Sporting Days and Full Gallop

The month of March has been a whirl-wind, and it’s amazing to me that I’m headed to Carolina right now and then going home from there. It feels like we just got to Aiken a month ago!

The first weekend of March I was fortunate to run four horses in the Training at Sporting Days. It’s amazing that when you ride four at the same level, and you get that practice, you ride better, and you don’t think so much as just react. Whether you’re on a green or more experienced horse, they’re all such a good learning experience. Needless to say, I had a blast, and even more so because my Mom got to be there to video and help all day.

I got to come right back the next weekend and run three at Full Gallop—Cailtin’s horse  Jolliyat (Cliff) at Preliminary, and Urrem (Rem) and Call to Order (Joe) in the Training. All three were great. Joe had a beautiful dressage and the best show jumping, even though he had rail, but I had some control issues and an unfortunate stop on cross-country at the bank when he couldn’t see where was going. Cliff was awesome. I really think if he stays at Preliminary a couple more runs, he’ll go right back up the levels when he feels confident.

We’ve packed all our stuff from Aiken, and are sad to be leaving our great barn and  beautiful turnout. But, we’re excited to be going home, and I’m equally excited to be on my way to doing the CIC** on Dyson at Carolina, the Training on Rem and the Preliminary on Cliff. I’ll let you know how it all goes!
